Expert Advice & Support
Pixfra Draco D335 Overview
Positioned as the mid-range workhorse of the Draco line-up, the Pixfra Draco D335-4K LRF Thermal Binocular offers a significant leap in thermal performance over the D225 while retaining the same compact, ergonomic chassis. This model is built for users who want more reach and detail in the thermal image without moving to the higher cost and narrower depth of field of a 640×512 sensor.
At the heart of the D335-4K is a 384×288 VOx uncooled thermal sensor with a 12µm pixel pitch and an impressive sensitivity of ≤15mK at f/1.0. The 35mm f/0.95 thermal lens provides a base magnification of 3.8× with a field of view of 7.5° × 5.6°, equivalent to 13.7m × 10.3m at 100m. Combined with 1–8× digital zoom, this configuration delivers flexible magnification for woodland, farmland and open hill work, with a quoted detection range of up to 1800m for large targets.
As with the rest of the Draco series, the thermal channel is complemented by a 4K digital day/night channel using a 1/1.8” CMOS sensor at 3840×2160 resolution. A 55mm f/2.0 lens and 5.5× base magnification provide a sharp, detailed optical image by day and a highly resolved monochrome picture at night. Automatic day/night switching means the binocular can track changing light conditions and transition smoothly from colour to night vision without the user having to change modes manually. The effective magnification range of 5.5–44× (with 1–8× digital zoom) allows precise identification at distance when conditions permit.
Viewing is via a 0.49” OLED display at 1920×1080 resolution, giving a bright, contrasty image with Pixfra’s curved, binocular-style user interface. PIPS 3.0 AI image processing applies to both thermal and digital channels, combining AI ISP and AI super-resolution (ISR) to enhance sharpness, suppress noise and improve clarity in challenging weather such as rain, fog or haze. A full suite of thermal palettes (White Hot, Black Hot, Iron Red, Alarm, Green Hot, Sepia) and digital colour modes let you tune the picture to your eyes and environment.
The built-in Class 1 laser rangefinder offers distance readings out to 1000m with ±1m accuracy, delivering reliable data for shot planning, safety and general situational awareness. A detachable IR illuminator in 850nm or 940nm variants supports the digital night vision channel, providing extended range and extra contrast when ambient light is extremely low. Smart IR control helps avoid blowing out close targets while still reaching out gainfully into the distance.
Control and usability features mirror those of the rest of the Draco series: menu memory that remembers your last menu position, electronic image stabilisation (EIS), defog mode, standby mode for battery conservation and intuitive controls designed for one-handed use. Wi-Fi connectivity (2.4/5GHz) links the device to the Pixfra app for live streaming, recording management and remote control, while 64GB of internal storage records video and still images directly on board.
Power is supplied by replaceable 18650 Li-ion batteries, with typical runtime of around 8 hours at 25°C with Wi-Fi switched off. USB-C charging, the ability to run from a power bank and a separate battery charger option provide multiple power strategies for extended sessions. The D335-4K is rated IP67 for dust and water ingress, operates from –30°C to +55°C, and weighs approximately 0.62kg, sharing the same 195 × 130.6 × 61.7mm chassis as the other Draco models. GPS, compass, hotspot tracking and Pixfra’s unique chest harness/pack system round off a robust, field-ready package that neatly balances size, performance and price.
